Welcome to Learn To Play - Level 2 (replacing Coach Pitch)!

 FOR CHILDREN BORN IN 2002 AND 2003


For the 2010 Season, SPMSA made the decision to replace our existing Coach Pitch program with the Learn To Play - Level 2 program based on our experience with the Learn To Play - Level 1, which replaced our TBall program in 2009.  

Although we do recognize that about 1% of parents whose children participated in the LTP program in 2009 felt that they preferred the TBall program to Learn To Play, the remainder felt that the new program was very successful and along with the Coaches gave us great feedback.  

Details:
 
Children will have approximately 45 minutes of skill-based activity followed by a 30 - 45 minute scrimmage game.  This allows them to see how they put the skills they've just learned into play, meet children from other teams and give the Coaches additional support. Game times have an earlier start in this division only.  Activities will start at 6:15 p.m. and end no later than 7:45 p.m.

There will be two (2) teams on the diamond at once.  One team is placed in the outfield and the other team is placed in the infield. Each team will perform the warm-up activity separately for 5 minutes. Then each team will perform the listed activities for 15 minutes in their designated areas. The two (2) teams will then switch positions (infield group moves to outfield and vice versa) and performs the activities listed for that area. The teams will then play a scrimmage game for 45 minutes.

The LTP - Level 2 Manual will be given to each Coach for the 2010 Season.  

-activities start at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

-you will be contacted by your child's Coach approximately 1 week prior to the start of the season.  If you have not heard from your Coach by April 23rd, please email info@spmsa.com to notify us.

-your child will be issued a uniform (jersey and pants) for the season.  Your Coach will notify you of your child's Uniform Pick Up date and time.  This information will also be posted on the website.

-required equipment;  ball glove, running shoes (no metal cleats) and pelvic protector.  Although your coach will be provided with several helmets in the equipment bag, for sanitary reasons you may want to purchase a helmet for your child (requires a face mask).

-all schedules will be posted on the website closer to the start of the season.

-pictures will be handed out at the Year End Tournament by your child's Coach.
